A Castle A Week: Alnwick Castle
How would you like to visit Hogwarts? I mean, the real-life castle of Hogwarts? Oh wait, do you think I mean the Hogwarts? Like, the same one Harry Potter attended? Not that one; I’m sorry for the confusion. Here’s Hogwarts:

And here’s one of the castles used in the Harry Potter films:

Alnwick Castle in Northumberland (in the northeast of England), besides being used as a background set for several movies including the critically-acclaimed Harru Potter series, also has a claim to fame as the second-longest occupied castle in England, behind that of Windsor Castle in London. Built in the early fourteenth century, Alnwick Castle has been home to the Earls and Dukes of Northumberland for centuries. Additions have been made throughout the years, but it certainly maintains a late medieval touch, especially in its exterior. In the modern day, the castle is open for visitors to explore, learn, and experience the history of one of the oldest and most interesting castles in England.
